Youth in Philanthropy Application Form 2026
On June 13th, 2006, the Roblin District Community Foundation met and passed the following resolution:
That we enter into an agreement with the Thomas Sill Foundation Youth-in-Philanthropy Program under the terms and responsibilities listed in their letter to our board dated May 29th, 2006.
After this resolution was passed, it was hoped that a Youth-in-Philanthropy (YIP) program would be set up in the community at some time. This happened when the GLH Education Foundation decided to put its money into the Roblin District Community Foundation. Former Goose Lake High teachers, Mr. Mack and Mr. Schiman, both members of the GLH Education foundation, hoped that by putting their foundation's money into the community foundation the YIP program would be started. Having both groups agree that a YIP program was important, it was time to look for the place to start it. Mr. Mack thought the World Issues class would be a good place to start the program.
We no longer offer that class so in recent years, we created a Youth in Philanthropy club. Volunteer students filter through applications from any non-profit community group and decide who should receive monies toward worthwhile projects. Total monies to allocate is $2500. Applications are to include areas such as: Arts, culture, heritage, community services, education, health, recreation, and environment. M. Wilson facilitates this process; awards are presented in early June at a full school assembly. Successful applicants will be advised formally of amount received and the date/time of the awards ceremony. The application for funds is attached below.
